A Brooklyn man wanted in connection with a 2025 fatal shooting in New Jersey has been arrested in Spain, officials said Thursday. Felix De La Cruz-Arias, 30, was taken into custody by the Spanish National Police in Barcelona on Jan. 30, after being on the run for nearly a year, the Camden County Pro secutor’s Office said in a statement. He’s currently being held in a correctional facility in Spain, awaiting extradition to the U.S. De La Cruz-Arias is accused of fatally shooting 32-year-old Josue Hiraldo-Peralta on the night of March 12, 2025, prosecutors said. Camden police responded to the 300 block of Morse Street around 10:30 p.m. for reports of gunfire. Hiraldo-Peralta was found on the ground with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds, authorities said. A second gunshot victim, a 28-year-old man from Camden, was found in a nearby residence. Both men were taken to Cooper University Hospital, where Hiraldo-Peralta was pronounced dead a short time later. On April 4, De La Cruz-Arias was charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder for the double shooting. His arrest overseas — nearly a year after his alleged crimes in South Jersey — was the result of a joint effort involving Camden police, homicide detectives with the prosecutor’s office, Spanish law enforcement, the U.S. Marshals Service and the U.S. Justice Department’s Office of International Affairs. “Through strong international partnerships, our ability to locate and apprehend fugitives beyond our borders is unmatched,” said Nicholas Ricigliano, U.S. Marshal for the District of New Jersey. The arrest of the double-shooting suspect after a months-long international manhunt “sends a clear message that violence in our community will be pursued wherever it leads, even across international borders,” added Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay. Ricigliano also commended the Spanish National Police for “tenaciously pursuing this fugitive while working hand in hand with the U.S. Marshals Service.” ...read more read less
