(KRON) -- Two brothers were returning home from work when their BMW collided with a semi-truck in Fremont. One of the brothers, identified by a coroner as 19-year-old Ahmad Muslim Faiez of San Jose, suffered traumatic brain injuries and later died in a hospital, according to family members. Family members said the brothers had just finished working a late-night shift. The deadly crash happened just before 2 a.m. on January 27 in the intersection of Auto Mall Parkway and Cushing Parkway. Police said the BMW M4 coupe was traveling northbound on Cushing Parkway while the semi-truck was traveling westbound on Auto Mall Parkway. "Both vehicles entered the intersection and collided. The front of the BMW made impact with the middle of the trailer and was pulled underneath the trailer. The intersection is controlled by traffic signals. We believe one of the vehicles entered the intersection against a red light," the Fremont Police Department wrote. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured, remained at the scene, and cooperated with the investigation, police said. The BMW driver suffered injuries and received medical treatment. Faiez passed away at a hospital, according to a GoFundMe page.
