Feb 04, 2026
The Charlotte Hornets acquired North Carolina native and former North Carolina Tar Heel Coby White in a trade with the Chicago Bulls, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The Hornets also received veteran point guard Mike Conley from the Bulls. In exchange for White and Conley, Charlotte sent gua
rd Collin Sexton, forward Ousmane Dieng, and three future second-round picks to Chicago.
Charlotte acquired Dieng from the Oklahoma City Thunder for center Mason Plumlee. Dieng will then be sent to Chicago amid multiple transactions, Charania said.
Below is the full details of the trade:
Hornets receive: Coby White, Mike Conley
Bulls receive: Collin Sexton, Ousmane Dieng, three future second-round picks
Thunder receive: Mason Plumlee
White is averaging 18.6 points, 4.7 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game across 29 contests this season. He is shooting 43.8% from the field and 34.6% from the three-point line. He will play a valuable role behind LaMelo Ball and Kon Knueppel.
White, 25, is a Goldsboro, North Carolina native and played at Greenfield High school in Wilson. He was a five-star recruit and played college at North Carolina where he made the second-team All-ACC and ACC All-Freshman teams. He broke the North Carolina freshman three-point shooting record with 82 and was later selected by Chicago at No. 7 overall in the 2019 NBA Draft.
Reports suggest the Hornets will buy Conley out of his contract so the 38-year-old can return to the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Hornets are currently on a seven-game win streak and sit 11th in the Eastern Conference at 23-28. The winning streak is the longest the team has seen in nearly 10 years.
