The grand opening of a Raising Cane’s in Fairfield has traffic piled up within the community.
Raising Cane’s opened a location in Fairfield on Feb. 3. Around the time of the lunch rush, the Fairfield Police Department warned people of high traffic and urged drivers to follow the directions of officers at the scene.
“From Route 46 West: Enter at the driveway to Jose Tejas, then follow the designated traffic pattern,” read a post from the police department’s Facebook page. “From Two Bridges Road, please follow the designated traffic pattern.”
“Big day in Fairfield! It was a PACKED house for grand opening of Raising Cane’s!” state Assemblyman Al Barlas posted on Facebook.
The fast-food chicken chain gained extensive popularity over the years. Raising Cane’s originated in Louisiana in 1996 and has since expanded to numerous locations in New Jersey and New York.
Raising Cane’s opened its first New York City location in the summer of 2023, and the chain opened the first New Jersey location in Burlington Township in 2024.
Bergen County may get a Raising Cane’s as the Paramus Planning Board heard an application for the shop in its Jan. 29 meeting. The Raising Cane’s may open at the former Stickley Furniture.
Raising Cane’s has nine New Jersey location including shops in Cherry Hill, Edison, Brick Township, Glassboro, Deptford, Marlton and Turnersville.
