Two people have been arrested in connection to a killing at a Murrieta apartment complex, including the victim’s ex-girlfriend, police announced Monday, Feb.2. Ignacia Cadaos Perkins, 40, of Murrieta and James Lawrence Petri, 43, of Birmingham, Alabama were arrested on Jan. 29 for the alleged murd er of 30-year-old Aaron Parr, who was found dead at The Arbors at California Oaks apartments on Jan. 13. Perkins is an ex-girlfriend of Parr, according to a police statement, while Petri is an “acquaintance” of Perkins. Authorities have not outlined a suspected motive for the crime. Perkins and Petri were both arrested on suspicion of committing murder for financial or other considerations and for taking part in a conspiracy, according to a Murrieta police statement. Perkins has been booked into local lockup, while authorities are still working on extraditing Petri from Alabama to California. Authorities have released little information about the alleged killing. On the morning of Jan. 13, police responded to a request by someone to check on the welfare of a resident at an apartment unit at The Arbors, which is located on Jackson Avenue, west of California Oaks Road and north of the 15 Freeway. Officers arrived at the apartments just after 9 a.m. to discover Parr’s body. The exact manner of his death has not been released. Authorities on Monday said the investigation remains active. Along with Murrieta police detectives, a variety of other agencies — including the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the Birmingham Police Department, the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office — have played a role in the investigation, police said. Police are asking anyone with information about the killing to contact them at 951-461-6353.
