(Courtesy of Lancaster County Corrections) LINCOLN–(KFOR Feb. 2)–More than two weeks after they were last seen and heard from and nearly a week after a missing persons advisory was issue d, a couple from Stromsburg in Polk County are likely victims of homicide. Lincoln Police Chief Michon Morrow on Monday said in a statement to KFOR News and other media their investigation into the disappearance of 26-year-old Hannah Neville and her husband, 27-year-old Roberto Tanner, has transitioned into homicide cases. “Both are believed to be deceased and LPD is working to locate their bodies,” Chief Morrow said.  “We are heartbroken for their families, and our deepest condolences go out to their loved ones who are processing the tragic loss of this married couple and the child they were expecting.” Two people are in custody.  Morrow said 24-year-old Sterling James of Lincoln was arrested on suspicion of two counts of first-degree murder, while his wife, 22-year-old Sayde Titus, was arrested for aiding and abetting first-degree murder. What is not clear in this case is the motive behind the disappearance and presumed deaths of Neville and Tanner, something LPD Lt. Dustin Romshek said they will be working on in their investigation by looking over digital evidence. On Jan. 15, Neville, who was 32-weeks pregnant, had left Stromsburg that evening to pick up Tanner from Lincoln.  James and Tanner are half-brothers, according to LPD.  Based on location data and witness statements, Neville arrived around 7pm to James and Titus’ apartment off of 13th and Arapahoe.  About an hour later, cellphone data shows Neville’s device leaving at 8 p.m., arriving at a home near NW 27th and West Alvo Road and remaining there until 1:30 a.m. January 16.  It traveled to multiple other locations before going offline that afternoon. Chief Morrow said that earlier that morning of Jan. 16, around 12:30 a.m., LPD and Lincoln Fire and Rescue were called to a vehicle fire near 40th and Cornhusker, where Neville’s SUV was found on fire.  KFOR News asked Lt. Romshek if James drove Neville’s vehicle to that location before it caught on fire. “We don’t have a for sure determination on that,” Romshek said. What started the fire remains under investigation by LFR.  Officers tried to contact Neville that morning about her SUV catching on fire, but her number was no longer in service. “We now believe that was because she was likely already deceased at the time,” Morrow added. “LPD was not aware of her disappearance at the time of this discovery.” The Polk County Sheriff’s Office notified LPD on Jan. 28 about Neville not being seen or heard from since Jan. 15.  A missing person’s report was filed Jan. 29.  Friends and family grew concerned about Neville’s welfare, since she had missed several doctors’ appointments in York.  Lincoln Police took over the investigation on Jan. 30, based on the events that transpired on Jan. 15 and 16. Meanwhile, on Feb. 1, LPD served a search warrant at a home off of NW 27th and West Alvo Road, where several people were detained and interviewed. Investigators learned James admitted to shooting Neville and Tanner and it occurred sometime in the late hours of January 15 or early hours of January 16.  What’s not clear yet is where the shooting occurred. “LPD believes James then buried their bodies and set fire to Hannah’s vehicle. Titus is believed to have helped James after they were killed,” Chief Morrow said. James and Titus were both taken into custody at their residence near 13th and Arapahoe on Sunday evening. Reporters questioned LPD if this was in anyway gang-related, based on rumors through social media, or if this was narcotics related.  Lt. Romshek said hasn’t revealed any gang ties and they are still looking into whether or not drugs were involved. The Lancaster County Attorney’s Office will also be looking into whether additional charges will be filed, since Neville was pregnant.
