A 50 year old Brunswick, NE, man died in a single vehicle crash Friday afternoon (Jan.  30, 2026, at 3:24pm), one mile southeast of Avon, SD. The name of the person involved has not been released pending notification of family members. Preliminary crash information indicates the driver of a 2006 Ch evy Cobalt was traveling northbound on 407th Avenue near 303rd Street. The driver lost control of the vehicle, entered the east ditch and rolled, coming to rest in a field. The driver was partially ejected from the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. All information released so far is only preliminary.
