QUEENSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — A 33-year-old man was found dead in a Jennings County house fire on Sunday morning, according to Indiana State Police. At 7:30 a.m. Sunday, the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office received calls of a house fire in the 4500 block of North County Road 350 West, which is just off of State Road 7 in Queensville, Indiana. Jennings County deputies, as well as officers with the North Vernon Police Department, arrived within minutes and attempted to gain access to the smoke-filled house after receiving reports that the house may still be occupied. Firefighters with the Scipio-Geneva Township Fire Department arrived shortly after and extinguished the fire, which was made difficult due to the cold temperatures. Firefighters soon located the body of a man in the house. The Jennings County Coroner’s Office arrived and identified the man as Kody A. Perry, 33, who resided at the house. Detectives and crime scene investigators with Indiana State Police were called to conduct a joint investigation with Jennings County detectives. The Indiana State Fire Marshal’s Office will work to determine the cause of the fire. Perry’s family has been notified. ...read more read less
