Feb 01, 2026
A 20-year-old wide receiver for the Villanova University football team has been charged in connection to a sexual assault involving another university student that allegedly took place on Dec. 7, 2025, court records showed.
Court records state that D’Hani Cobbs, a freshman who graduated from Ca
mden High School, has been charged with Rape Forcible Compulsion, Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse Forcible Compulsion, Sexual Assault and several other charges related to the incident.
The university has provided NBC10 with this statement on the incident:
“On Friday, Jan. 30, Villanova University Police arrested and charged Villanova student D’Hani Cobbs with the sexual assault of another University student stemming from a December 2025 incident. Once the University learned of the incident, campus police launched an investigation, notified the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office, and the alleged assailant was removed from campus. Sexual violence of any kind is not tolerated on our campus and we are committed to both supporting the victim and fostering a safe environment for all of our students. We are deeply troubled any time we receive reports of such misconduct, as our priority is, and always has been, to ensure we have a safe community for our students, faculty, and staff.”
Although an error message appeared when NBC10 went to Cobbs’ player profile on Villanova’s website, a player page on ESPN showed that Cobbs had returned one kickoff in the 2025 season.
Cobbs was arraigned on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, and is being held on $250,000 bail, according to court records.
A preliminary hearing for the case is scheduled for Feb. 12, 2026, court records stated.
NBC10 reached out to Cobbs’ lawyer on record and is waiting to hear back.
