Seems like the biggest problem with living in Hawaii is the housing crisis. I remember my parents telling me when their parents paid $3,000 to $5,000 for a house and lot. Then my parents paid about $22,000 in the 1940s. Then I paid about $160,000 in the 1960s, with a 30-year mortgage loan for housin g.
