A 31-year-old woman died Friday in a garage fire in the San Mateo County community of North Fair Oaks, the sheriff’s office said. The fire broke out at about 4:45 a.m. in a detached garage along the 600 block of Hurlingame Avenue, according to the sheriff’s office. Responding firefighters found flames burning the detached garage and threatening the main residence and nearby structures, the sheriff’s office said. Crews pulled the woman from the fire and tried to save her, but she died at the scene, according to the sheriff’s office. Two other people escaped on their own before first responders arrived, the sheriff’s office said. They were not injured.
