Two Bay Area tech companies cutting nearly 200 jobs

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Two Bay Area tech companies are cutting nearly 200 jobs, recent filings with the Employment Development Department show. Google is laying off 77 employees from its Sunnyvale campus, and Pinterest is laying off 118 employees across San Francisco and Palo Alto.

ayoffs at Google are considered “permanent” and affect workers in the “professional scientific and technical services” industry, according to the WARN report. The layoffs will be effective on dates spanning from March 15 through April 12. Google’s Sunnyvale campus is located just east of Moffett Federal Airfield and north of Highway 237.
Pinterest’s announced layoffs affect workers in the “information” industry, according to the WARN report, with cuts considered “permanent.” There will be 98 employees laid off from its San Francisco headquarters at 651 Brennan Street and 16 laid off from its office in Palo Alto, located at 395 Page Mill Road. An additional four employees based in SF who work remotely are also being laid off.
The Pinterest cuts will be effective March 31.
