Amid brutally cold temperatures and subzero wind chills, three parked cars were encased in ice in Philadelphia’s Fishtown neighborhood. NBC10 photojournalist JR Smith responded to the scene along the 1000 block of North Front Street Friday morning. At least three parked cars were completely fro zen. While there were reports of a pipe burst in the area, city officials have not yet confirmed this. Since Sunday’s winter storm dropped the most snow the area has seen in a decade, temperatures have been in the single digits or teens during the early morning hours and wind chills have made it feel below zero. The frigid temperatures have led to mounds of snow and ice remaining on roads, sidewalks and crosswalks throughout Philadelphia. The brutal cold will continue through the weekend, and light snow is expected to fall at the Jersey Shore and coastal Delaware.
