South Dakota students have until Feb. 1, 2026, to submit their entries for the “Civics in the 605: Statewide Sticker Showcase” through the Secretary of State’s Office. Student artists from across the state are invited to design original voting stickers that celebrate civic engagement and South Dakota pride. Submissions are accepted in four grade-level categories: K–2, 3–5, 6–8, and 9–12. Secretary of State Monae Johnson says the Statewide Sticker Showcase is a way for students to connect with their state government. She says the winning designs will be featured during the 2026 General Election. Additionally, Johnson says her office will host an Inaugural Award Ceremony in February (Feb. 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m.) in the Capitol Rotunda. Artwork submitted by the finalists will be displayed, winners will be recognized during the Legislative Session and students and their families will have the opportunity to tour the Capitol following the event. How to Enter: Full contest details, design guidelines and submission information are available at: https://sdsos.gov/elections-voting/voting/sos-awards.aspx. Winners will be chosen by a panel of judges. Drawing by Kynlee S. from Stanley County School.Courtesy image. Courtesy image. Courtesy image. Courtesy image. ...read more read less
