We’re excited to share some vibrant updates that have brought a fresh, cohesive look to our downtown streets! This winter, we focused on enhancing two key areas: layering in color, texture, and a touch of artistic history. Fountain Alley Gets a Ground-Up Makeover Our team recently completed a land scape refresh in Fountain Alley, transforming the planters with new soil, careful cleanup, and a rich layer of tan bark. This isn’t just a facelift, it’s a foundation for healthier, more vibrant plants that will thrive in the coming seasons, making your stroll through the alley even more pleasant. A Splash of Heritage Color on 2nd Street Have you noticed the warm, new glow on 2nd Street? We’ve repainted the parking lot walls between Santa Clara and San Fernando, trading the old bright green for a beautiful goldenrod yellow. This isn’t just any color, it’s a deliberate nod to one of our earliest Street Life mosaic art projects in the district. The new hue creates a more harmonious and inviting streetscape, beautifully complementing the surrounding brick and architecture. It’s a shade that feels sunny in summer and warmly inviting in winter, revitalizing the space year-round. Finishing Touches: Planters on the Move! To tie everything together, we’ve relocated two hanging planters from 1st Street to adorn Fountain Alley, and given all the planters along 2nd Street a full revitalization. These living touches add bursts of greenery, improving the overall aesthetic and experience for everyone who walks, shops, and dines in the heart of San Jose. These improvements are all about creating a more connected, beautiful, and enjoyable downtown environment. Next time you’re in the area, take a moment to enjoy the new views!
