A man is recovering after he was pistol-whipped by intruders during an attempted home invasion in Southwest Philadelphia, police said.
The incident occurred on Thursday, around 12:45 a.m., along the 2600 block of Massey Street. A 33-year-old man who was about to enter his home was approached by a
gunman who demanded he open the door, police said. When the victim complied, two other suspects followed them into the home, according to investigators.
When the victim and three suspects entered, a 55-year-old man who also lived inside the home, received a call from a roommate alerting him of the intruders. Police said the 55-year-old man then confronted the three suspects, leading to a fight. During the struggle, the suspects pistol-whipped the man multiple times on his head and back, police said.
The three suspects then fled the scene in a dark-colored pickup truck. Investigators said nothing was stolen from the home during the incident.
The 55-year-old man was taken to the hospital for treatment. Officials have not yet revealed his condition. No one else was hurt during the incident.
Police have not released a description of the three suspects. If you have any information on the incident, call Philadelphia Police.
