(KRON) -- The San Jose Police Department said a crash in a shopping center parking lot on Tuesday left one woman dead. The incident marks the city's second fatal collision and second traffic death of the year so far. Grandmother’s death sparks call for safer San Mateo intersection Officers respond ed at 11:17 a.m. in the intersection of Lido Way and Thackeray Lane to investigate a report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. "A 2024 Ford Transit 150 van, occupied by an adult male driver, was traveling southbound in the parking lot when it made a left turn to travel eastbound when it struck an adult female pedestrian," said San Jose police in a news release. The driver stayed at the location to aid detectives, according to SJPD. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released by the Santa Clara County Office of the Medical Examiner.
