Suspect driver strikes SFPD officer in Oakland

OAKLAND, Calif. (KRON) -- A San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) officer was struck by a driver Tuesday afternoon in Oakland, authorities confirmed to KRON4. Around 3:50 p.m., SFPD officers were trying to stop an at-large suspect on the 800 block of 47th Street in Oakland.
As officers attempted t
o detain the suspect, they drove away and struck an SFPD officer in the process, the police department said.
Oakland police pursued the suspect who then ran away on foot and attempted to carjack another vehicle, according to SFPD. The suspect was eventually taken into custody.
In the process of the arrest, an officer discharged their firearm, according to the Oakland Police Department. Around 4:30 p.m., the officer fired their weapon on the 3400 block of Webstret Street. There were no reports of injuries or the officer from the discharged firearm.

The officer was taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
