Credit: MGNCOLUMBIA, SC – A measles outbreak in South Carolina is now the largest recorded in the United States since the disease was declared eliminated in this country more than two decades ago. The state first reported cases in October and the number of reports has risen to over 780, surpassing a massive outbreak in Texas. According to South Carolina’s health department, at least 12 people have been hospitalized for complications, but there have been no fatalities associated with the outbreak at this time.
