RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Many Central Virginia school divisions will be closed or will turn to virtual learning on Wednesday due to hazardous driving conditions following the snow and ice storm. Snow began the afternoon of Saturday, Jan. 24, then turned into sleet and freezing rain -- conditions tha t continued until about midnight on Sunday, Jan. 25. While the precipitation has stopped, many roads remain icy, creating dangerous driving conditions across the region. Of the Central Virginia school districts that closed on Monday, Jan. 26 and Tuesday, Jan. 27, the following school divisions will remain closed heading into Wednesday, Jan. 28: Chesterfield County Public Schools Dinwiddie County Public Schools Essex County Public Schools Hanover County Public Schools Henrico County Public Schools Greensville County Public Schools Louisa County Public Schools Northumberland County Public Schools Prince George County Public Schools Spotsylvania County Public Schools Stafford County Public Schools The following school districts will shift to virtual learning on Wednesday: King and Queen County Public Schools Richmond City Public Schools Richmond County Public Schools Amelia County Public Schools Caroline County Public Schools This article will be updated if and when additional delays or closings are announced.
