A man was arrested after his parents and sister were found dead inside a home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, officials said.
Kevin Castiglia, 55, is charged with terroristic threats, possession of an instrument of crime with intent, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
The
investigation began with a report of a wellbeing check. The boyfriend of Castiglia’s sister told police he had not heard from his girlfriend since Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, according to the criminal complaint. The man visited his girlfriend’s home in Doylestown on Sunday, Jan. 25, but didn’t see her or her vehicle, investigators said.
The man then drove to the home of his girlfriend’s parents on Heather Road in Churchville, Pennsylvania, on Sunday around 6:30 p.m. When he arrived, he spotted his girlfriend’s vehicle in the driveway. The man banged on the door several times but no one answered and the lights were off, according to the criminal complaint. He then left the home.
The man then returned to the Churchville home on Monday, Jan. 26, around 2:15 p.m. and once again knocked several times at the door. The man told investigators his girlfriend’s brother — Kevin Castiglia — then came to the front door dressed in a robe, according to the criminal complaint. The man told Castiglia that he wanted to talk to his sister, officials said. Castiglia told him his sister wasn’t at the home and likely on vacation, according to the criminal complaint.
Castiglia then allegedly told the man, “Don’t ever come here again or I will kill you,” and pointed a large knife at him. The man described Castiglia’s knife as a large “Psycho” type chef’s knife, according to the criminal complaint.
The man immediately left and called 911.
Northampton Township Police then responded to the home on Heather Road and knocked on the door but received no response. They then called a number inside the home but received no answer. The officers then called for Castiglia to come to the door, according to the criminal complaint.
Castiglia opened the door while wearing the robe and holding two knives, one of which police believed had blood on it, investigators said.
Castiglia began speaking incoherently to the officers and didn’t answer them when they asked about his family, police said.
Castiglia then pointed the knives towards the officers who shot him with a stun gun, according to the criminal complaint. The stun gun had little effect on Castiglia who pulled the probes out of his body, slammed the door and locked it, according to investigators.
The officers continued to try speaking with Castiglia but heard “stomping” inside the home as if someone was walking upstairs to the second floor, officials said. The officers then contacted a tactical team.
The responding tactical team entered the home and found the body of a woman – believed to be Castiglia’s sister – inside the kitchen, according to the criminal complaint. They then found the bodies of a man and woman – believed to be Castiglia’s parents – inside the basement of the home, investigators said.
Investigators said Castiglia barricaded himself inside a bedroom on the second floor, ignoring commands from the tactical team. He was eventually taken into custody.
While Castiglia was charged with terroristic threats, possessing instruments of crime, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, he has not been charged with murder as the investigation continues. Officials also have not revealed how the three victims died.
Online court records don’t list an attorney who could speak on Castiglia’s behalf.
