District 7 Crews Continue Winter Weather Operations
Jan 27, 2026
Motorists urged to use caution while traveling
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan 27th, 2026)— Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 7 crews remain actively engaged in winter weather operations as cold temperatures continue. Crews are continuing to plow and treat roadways, focusing on Priority B a
nd C routes while also addressing Priority A routes and turn lanes, shoulders, and other areas that require additional attention. While crews are making progress, extreme cold temperatures can reduce the effectiveness of salt and other treatments.
Motorists should be aware that progress may take time as crews work lane by lane to reach as many roads as possible. Those traveling are encouraged to keep the following safety reminders in mind:
Allow snow plows plenty of space to safely operate
Be alert for slick spots, which may persist due to low temperatures
Reduce speeds, increase following distance, and allow additional time for travel
With dangerously cold temperatures, residents are encouraged to know where the nearest warming center or shelter is located. Information on warming centers statewide is available at https://tinyurl.com/kyshelters.
