A new writing room in Riverside will honor retired Press-Enterprise columnist Dan Bernstein.

A 10 a.m. ceremony Saturday, Jan. 31, will dedicate the space. Bernstein is expected to attend.
A mechanic, Marshall works on typewriters, doing repairs and other services, a news release states. He was a longtime fan of Bernstein, who wrote a column for The Press-Enterprise for nearly 32 years. In addition, Marshall has worked on Bernstein’s typewriter.

Typewriter Muse’s new site is at 1960 Chicago Ave., Suite D-17, Riverside.
The Bernstein room includes tables with space for typewriters. It will host workshops and writing programs “designed to help writers unplug from digital distraction and reconnect with focused, tactile writing practices,” the release states. Evenings for college students and community “type-in” events also are planned.
Founded in 2020, Typewriter Muse’s notable clients includes actor and typewriter aficionado Tom Hanks.
