A middle school student was arrested after allegedly approaching a 12-year-old in the bathroom with a knife and trying to steal from him, according to the Delaware State Police. School officials from the Louis L. Redding Middle School on the 200 block of New Street in Middletown, Delaware, alert ed police of the attempted robbery that happened on Jan. 12, police explained. Allegedly a 12-year-old student pushed another 12-year-old against the wall of the school’s bathroom while holding a knife and demanding the victim hand over his personal items, police said. The victim refused and was able to escape without getting hurt, according to officials. The next day, a witness told school leaders who said they then found a knife in the suspect’s bookbag and called police, officials said. Then, on Jan. 23, the 12-year-old suspect turned himself into police and was charged with attempting to commit robbery, possession of a weapon in a safe recreation zone and other related offences.
