A Nassau County Police Detective faces federal charges in upstate New York, after the feds say he tried to get an undercover officer to videotape himself sexually abusing his 10-year-old daughter. The would-be grade school victim wasn’t real, though, and Det. Robert Sacco’s creepy three-month ex change with her “father” ended with his arrest on attempted sexual exploitation of a child, according to prosecutors in Albany. Sacco, 38, of Huntington, N.Y., appeared in Brooklyn Federal Court Saturday, and is locked up until his first appearance in federal court in Albany at a later date. The undercover officer has a social media profile that states he “love[d] talking kink and taboo with people and have very little limitations,” according to a criminal complaint. Sacco took the bait in October 2025, first asking about nudism in the home, then becoming more and more interested in the idea that the undercover was naked in the house with his “daughter.” The conversation moved onto sex talk and photo exchanges, and online purchases of underwear and sex toys, according to a criminal complaint. On Friday, a day before his arrest, Sacco joined an encrypted video call, hoping to watch the undercover officer engage in sex acts with the child, the feds said. When the “daughter” wouldn’t come out of her room, the feds allege, he asked if the undercover would be willing to postpone the encounter, according to the complaint. “The defendant, a 38-year-old Nassau County Police Department Detective, is charged with attempted sexual exploitation of a child. In short, the defendant, a police officer sworn to protect, intended to sexually exploit a 10-year-old girl,” prosecutors wrote in a filing Friday. “Accordingly, he should be detained as a danger to the community.” His lawyer declined comment Monday. “The allegations against Detective Sacco are shocking and disgusting. This in no way represents the professionalism and integrity of our outstanding police department,” Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman said, according to News 12. ...read more read less
