Lexington Emergency Operations Center Open
Jan 24, 2026
Lexington Emergency Management opened the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, following the State of Emergency declared by Mayor Linda Gorton due to the incoming winter storm.
The snow emergency declaration bans parking on snow emergency routes, which are major streets
through the city and are marked by signage. Residents should move vehicles and avoid parking on these roads to avoid being towed.
Snowfall totals are forecast to reach 8 – 12 inches, and extreme cold makes this storm dangerous. Due to heavy snowfall, road conditions will become hazardous. Residents are asked to limit travel to emergencies only.
Sub-zero temperatures and wind chills pose a serious threat with this storm. If possible, stay inside and out of the wind. If you must be outside, wear several layers and cover every inch of exposed skin with a hat, gloves, scarf, or other appropriate face covering.
