A woman died after being hit by a vehicle in San Mateo Friday morning, the city’s police department said. Police said they responded to a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle at the intersection of South El Camino Real and 17th Avenue at around 10:30 a.m. At the scene, officials re port first responders found the pedestrian, a woman, who sustained critical injuries. The woman was taken to the hospital where she later died, according to authorities. The police department said a preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was turning north from Bovet Road onto northbound South El Camino Real when the crash happened within the crosswalk of South El Camino Real at 17th Avenue.
