INDIANAPOLIS, IND. (WOWO) Indiana State Police recently completed an initiative aimed at educating truck drivers, motor carriers, school bus operators, law enforcement, and the public on how to recognize and report human trafficking.
During the campaign, troopers inspected more than 700 commercial v
ehicles and distributed over 1,000 awareness materials from the organization Truckers Against Trafficking.
State Police emphasized that truck drivers are often in a position to spot trafficking. More than 70 percent of cases reported by truckers involve minors, highlighting the critical role drivers play in identifying and stopping exploitation.
The initiative is part of an ongoing effort to raise awareness and ensure that trafficking victims receive help, while giving transportation professionals the tools to recognize suspicious activity on the road.
