Horsetooth Mountain Open Space, 6550. W County Road 38 E in Fort Collins, was indefinitely closed Thursday after reported mountain lion activity, according to Larimer County officials. Larimer County Department of Natural Resources shared in a Thursday morning Facebook post that Horsetooth Mountain Open Space, including the main trailhead and the Soderberg trailhead, would be closed until further notice because of mountain lion activity reported in the area. The post also stated that staff would continue to monitor the area to help ensure the public’s safety. The post did not specify the number of reports of mountain lion activity that were received or if there was an increased amount of activity in the area compared to what is usual.
