Clearer skies Thursday in Bay Area
Jan 22, 2026
(BCN) -- Thursday in the Bay Area calls for mostly sunny skies with fog, either patchy or dense, prevailing in multiple parts of the region, according to the National Weather Service.
Daytime highs will be mostly in the low to mid 60s across the region. Overnight lows will be in the low to mid 40s,
with some areas reaching the high 40s.
Morning fog and spotty, very light rain are expected Thursday across parts of the region, with most places seeing little to no accumulation, forecasters say.
According to the NWS, patchy fog could form early Thursday morning in the North and East Bay valleys, though any dense fog should be localized. Drivers are urged to watch for brief drops in visibility during the morning commute.
Scattered sprinkles and very light rain are also expected through Thursday morning along the Central Coast, especially near the Santa Lucia Range and around Monterey. Forecasters say rainfall totals will be minimal, generally just a trace to a few hundredths of an inch. Showers are unlikely farther north, though a few sprinkles could reach parts of the Bay Area.
Forecasters say drier air over much of the Bay Area will make it harder for rain to reach the ground, while slightly more moisture to the south favors light showers along the Central Coast.
Looking ahead, conditions are expected to dry out later Thursday. Gusty offshore winds may develop across the higher terrain of the North Bay late Friday into Saturday, the weather service said.
