(KRON) -- A Novato mother and her 37-year-old son were arrested after Marin County Sheriff's detectives allegedly found multiple pounds of drugs in their home. Detectives said they became aware of a package earlier this month that was intended to be shipped to a residence in Novato containing 400 tablets of Tapentadol, a controlled substance similar to oxycodone. On Tuesday, detectives showed up at the home and the mother, identified as 71-year-old Carolyn Connor, was at the front door. Connor was "uncooperative" with detectives and alerted her son, Eric Garcia, that law enforcement officers were outside. "As Connor was being detained by detectives, Garcia was observed retreating and concealing himself down a hallway and out of view of detectives. After some brief negotiating, Garcia surrendered and was detained," the sheriff's office wrote. When detectives searched the home, they found additional Tapentadol tablets and over 3.5 pounds of cocaine, investigators said. They also allegedly found MDMA, LSD, ketamine, and evidence indicative of illegal narcotic sales being conducted by Garcia. The mother and son were booked into the Marin County Jail on suspicion of numerous felony drug-related charges. ...read more read less
