The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 2:21 a.m. on Thursday for snow squalls until 4:30 a.m. for Yates, Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Steuben, Schuyler, Chemung, Tompkins, Madison and Cortland counties.“Scattered snow squalls will move through the region early this morning. Brief peri ods of heavy snow will be possible and will likely lead to snow-covered roads. The heavy snow combined with gusty winds, will drop visibility to a quarter mile or less.
