Multiple law enforcement agencies secured the area as officers attempted to make contact with the suspect.Its really concerning because I live a block away, Lasseter said. Theres very seldom anything that involves law enforcement on our part of town.Another resident, Joshua Lovell, expressed similar surprise.Everything is nice and peaceful and then all of a sudden, theres just a bunch of activity out of nowhere, said Lovell. "It's definitley confusing, like why are all these cops on my street."Police said the man was wanted on a warrant, which led officers to the area. During the encounter, the suspect remained inside his vehicle with a gun for at least four hours, before eventually exiting peacefully.It was very unusual for here, Lasseter said. They responded quickly, they were on the scene quickly, and from what I can see, they had it well in hand.No injuries were reported, and police did not confirm whether the earlier gunshots were connected to the suspect.Despite the disruption, neighbors said they were grateful the situation ended without violence.Its always nice to know you can count on law enforcement to be where you need them to be when you need them, Lasseter said.Update 2 p.m.The man left the vehicle and was placed in handcuffs, ending the standoff.Update: 12:20 p.m.Police have surrounded a man inside a vehicle who is gesturing with a gun and is potentially suicidal.The man is apparently wanted on a warrant and has made comments about not wanting to go back to jail.The standoff has lasted for three hours.-Reporting by Charlie Klepps (original report)Cody police are urging people in the area of the 2600 block of E Avenue to shelter in place.Police said they are responding to a "critical incident" in the area and will share updates as they are available.This is a developing story.
