Pa. man arrested after Humpty Dumpty statue damaged at Cape May minigolf course
Jan 21, 2026
A Pennsylvania man has been arrested, officials said, after he, allegedly, caused thousands of dollars in damages to a Cape May, New Jersey, miniature golf course by ripping a Humpty Dumpty statue from its foundation and throwing it into another property.
According to police in Cape May, Blane D
ongas, 29, of Dallas, Pa., has been arrested and charged with trespassing and criminal mischief after an incident that happened on September, 7, 2025, at the Ocean Putt Miniature Golf Course, located at Jackson Street and Beach Avenue in Cape May, New Jersey.
Officials said, at about 8:57 p.m. on that date, police responded to the miniature golf course to find, what police called, an “iconic Humpty Dumpty-themed fiberglass golf structure” forcibly removed from its foundation.
Estimated costs to repair the structure, officials said, were about $1,000 for repairs or $2,000 to replace it.
Over the course of an investigation into this incident, officials said, investigators found surveillance video that, allegedly, depicted Dongas and an unidentified man walking along the side of the golf course at about 4 a.m. on Sept. 7, 2025.
The footage, police claim, showed Dongas climb a fence into the miniature golf course before breaking the Humpty Dumpty statue off of its foundation. He is then accused of discarding the sculpture on an adjacent property.
Police said that a review of Dongas’ phone records also, allegedly, placed him at the scene on the night the crime occurred.
Dongas, officials said, turned himself in to police on Jan. 19, 2026.
