To defeat cartels, the US must confront its own role — not threaten Mexico

The U.S. should deepen its cooperation with Mexico to reduce drug demand and cut off the southbound gun pipeline, rather than taking military action against Mexico, which would be counter-productive and jeopardize the progress made in reducing drug flows.
