DALY CITY, Calif. (KRON) -- BART and Uber have partnered to allow users to book Uber rides directly through the BART app. This new feature aims to simplify the commute for riders by integrating planning and payment for Uber services within a single platform.
The newly introduced feature enables pas
sengers to plan their BART trips and pay for Uber rides without needing to switch between apps. Bob Powers, general manager of BART, announced this initiative during a news conference at the Daly City BART station Tuesday.

Chris Margaronis, Head of Transit Partnerships at Uber, explained, "You can't make transit inconvenient. You have to make it seamless and make it functional for people to actually want to take transit."
As an added incentive for riders, a $5 discount is available for Uber trips that begin or end at select BART stations. The eligible stations for this promotion include Antioch, Bay Fair, Concord, Daly City, Fruitvale, Lake Merritt, MacArthur, Richmond, Walnut Creek and West Oakland.
Powers noted, "Not everybody lives right adjacent to a BART station or a bus line and this is gonna improve their experience." This collaboration is designed to not only enhance the convenience for existing riders but also attract new customers to public transport.
The new feature is available at all 50 BART stations.
