IU fan tears up after national championship win MIAMI GARDENS (WISH) — It was quite the memorable night for Hoosiers fans, as IU football won its first national championship, defeating Miami 27-21. IU fan Whitney Driver was at the game, and thought about her dad after the victory, who was a huge Hoosiers fan. “My dad would go to every Bucket game every year, drive down to Bloomington from Northeast Indiana,” Driver said. “I even have a cooler in my Jeep that’s as old as I am that says Indiana on it. When he’d go to West Lafayette, he’d be that one little red dot in a sea of black. So I grew up with it.” Driver began to tear up as she continued to reflect on her father and how much he would have loved that moment on Monday night. “I even wore my dad and my grandma’s rings tonight,” Driver said. “They passed away 15 years ago. So it’s in my blood, and I wish they were here tonight to experience it. But, they live on in me, so I feel like they were here in spirit tonight for the game.” To see the full interview, watch the video above. ...read more read less
