(KRON) -- An AK-style short-barreled rifle was seized by the San Jose Police Department during a routine traffic stop over the weekend. According to SJPD, a two-officer patrol unit was conducting a proactive enforcement in the area of Leigh Avenue and Scott Street at around 10 p.m. Sunday. The offi cers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. During the stop, officers developed probable cause to search the vehicle. The serial number on the weapon had been "obliterated," police added. Along with the rifle, officers found a 30-round magazine loaded with live ammunition.
