CAYCE, S.C. (WOLO)– Dominion Energy will conduct the annual test of its Lake Murray Dam inundation sirens, say officials. The test will be conducted on Tuesday, Jan. 20, at 1 p.m., and sirens will sound for approximately three minutes. Testing is conducted every January, and the inundation siren system includes 10 rotating sirens near the Saluda River in Richland and Lexington counties. Should an actual emergency occur at the Lake Murray dam and its backup dam, the sirens would alert the public to tune in to local radio or television stations for information, said officials. “Keeping our employees and the public safe is our top priority,” said Iris Griffin, vice president, of power generation for Dominion Energy South Carolina. “We conduct regular drills and continuously prepare for highly unlikely events in our safe and reliable operation of the Lake Murray dam.” The company also conducts a monthly, one-minute test of these sirens at Lake Murray.
