Jan 18, 2026
WASHINGTON, D.C. (WOWO) At least 45 people in 21 states have fallen ill with salmonella after consuming Super Greens diet supplement powder, according to federal health officials. Twelve individuals were hospitalized, though no deaths have been reported.
Superfoods Inc., which produces the Live it U
p brand, has recalled multiple Super Greens products, including original and wild berry flavors with expiration dates from August 2026 to January 2028. Consumers are advised not to eat, sell, or serve the powder, and to return or discard any affected products.
Illnesses linked to the supplement occurred between August 22 and December 30, 2025, with cases reported in Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are continuing their investigation, cautioning that additional products may be contaminated. Salmonella infections typically cause diarrhea, fever, and stomach cramps, and while most people recover within a week, young children, older adults, and those with weakened immune systems are at higher risk.
