As a winter storm is set to linger over the Philadelphia region, on Sunday morning, PennDOT announced that it would be reducing the speed limit on several roadways in the area. At about 7 a.m. on Sunday, PennDOT officials announced speed limits have been reduced to 45 m.p.h. on the following road ways: Interstates 76, 95, 295, 476, 676. U.S. Routes 1, 30, 202, 422. State Routes 63, 100 Spur and 309. Officials said that, on roadways with speed restrictions, commercial vehicles not affected by restrictions on these or other roadways must move to the right lane.  PennDOT said that crews have been treating roadways, but roads will not be completely free of ice and snow. Still, PennDOT plans to keep crews out throughout the day clearing and treating roadways until the precipitation stops and roadways are clear. Also, officials said, throughout the storm — and always — motorist should allow plenty of space when driving near plow trucks. Also, motorists should never attempt to pass a truck that is plowing or spreading winter materials, officials said.
