Dave Herman grew up in Colorado Springs but loved the Lake George area and made it his home in 2013. Being an avid angler, he recently purchased the Tumbling Trout Outfitters in Lake George. Tumbling Trout has been serving the area for many years offering guided fishing trips, a shop selling fli es, tackle and other fishing gear. Expert anglers are on hand to provide local knowledge and technique advice. “A one-stop shop for beginners or seasoned anglers before your adventure begins,” stated Herman. Tumbling Trout is open Tuesday through Saturday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and located at 38283 US 24 in Lake George. Vance Williams had been working as a guide for Tumbling Trout when Herman purchased the store, and this past November Herman approached Williams with the idea of reopening the then-closed cafe next door. They realized there was a void to fill and Williams, with over 15 years of culinary experience, agreed to take on the café and they named it Gold Water Cafe. “We’ve been busier than we anticipated,” said Williams. “I just want to offer more dining options and good food to the area,” he added. Their specialty is that everything is homemade from scratch, including their three soup options. They offer a variety of sandwiches, salads and pastries. They have a complete line of specialty expresso coffee, and the coffee beans are roasted by Mountain Bramble Roasters in Guffey. “We are working on offering special take-out dinner items, all homemade from scratch like the rest of our menu offerings,” Williams said.
