Winter weather advisory in place for New York until 1 a.m. Sunday — could see 9 inches of snow

At 12:36 p.m. on Friday, the National Weather Service released a winter weather advisory valid from 7 p.m. until Sunday 1 a.m. for Southern Herkimer, Southern Fulton, Northern Saratoga, Eastern Rensselaer, Eastern Columbia, Western Dutchess, Eastern Dutchess, Northern Fulton and Southern Washington.
“Total snow accumulations between 2 and 9 inches,” can be anticipated according to the weather service. “Areas of snow will bring light to locally moderate snowfall accumulations to all of eastern New York and western New England tonight into tomorrow night. However, the terrain within the Advisory area will enhance snowfall, thereby increasing the potential for more widespread moderate and possibly locally heavy accumulations, especially across the Southern Greens in Southern Vermont.”
