COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ) Candidates in a race to represent part of Mid-Missouri in the state Senate have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to compete in the August primary. Four Republicans have formed committees to raise money for their campaigns in the Sixth Senate District, which covers Cole, Callaway, Miller, Morgan and Moniteau counties. The current officeholder, Republican Mike Bernskoetter, is prohibited from running again due to term limits. Jake Vogel, president of Jefferson City Coca-Cola, has raised nearly $220,000 for his bid. The biggest donors in the current fundraising cycle include WPG PAC, based in Columbia, the Independent Physicians PAC of Mid-Mo, the Missouri Beverage PAC and the Ford Motor Company Civic Action Fund MO.
