ENGLEWOOD — When the Broncos and Bills meet Saturday at Empower Field at Mile High, every second will be precious. Both teams rank among the NFL’s top seven in time of possession, and, after Buffalo held the ball for nearly 42 minutes in last year’s meeting, there’s an onus on Denver to f lip the switch this time around. Not just to keep Josh Allen, James Cook and the explosive Bills run game off the field, but also to allow Bo Nix and the Broncos offense to build and keep a lead. “Everyone’s been battling their entire season, figuring out how to win, what puts them in great positions,” Denver right guard Quinn Meinerz said Thursday. “That’s why these games are one-score games, coming down to the last play, because everyone’s trying to be who they are and advance in this tournament. We know that we have to be at our best and we know they’re going to be at their best.” Denver Broncos guard Quinn Meinerz (77) celebrates a play during a game against the Cowboys at Empower Field at Mile High on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2025. (The Denver Gazette, Jerilee Bennett) The Broncos, at their best, are a unit defined by elite offensive line play. Both Meinerz and left tackle Garett Bolles earned first-team All-Pro honors by the Associated Press. Meinerz became the first Broncos offensive lineman to earn back-to-back first-team All-Pro honors and just the third in franchise history to earn multiple first-team honors. Bolles earned his first All-Pro first-team honor in his ninth season and became just the third tackle in Denver history to be on the first team. The Denver offensive line as a whole ranks first in the NFL in pass-blocking efficiency, per Pro Football Focus, while Meinerz, Bolles and McGlinchey all rank at or near the top of their positions in lowest percentage of quarterback pressures allowed, per NextGen Stats. (The Gazette, Christian Murdock) “I think it (says) more about our entire group, not individually. That is an award that has our name on it, but is a team award,” Meinerz said. “I can’t be at my best if Luke (Wattenberg) is not playing his tail off, if Mike (McGlinchey) is not playing his tail off. It’s all of us together. It’s great to have our names on it, but at the end of the day, in our room, the way we receive that is that’s a group award. We did a really good job this year of protecting Bo (Nix) during the season and being an efficient o-line. “That’s been our biggest thing is being efficient, wanting the weight on our shoulders, wanting it to be on our back. I couldn’t be more proud and happy to be a part of this group.” The offensive line covets that responsibility against the Bills.  Aside from Wattenberg, who remains on injured reserve but could return later in the playoffs, the Broncos offensive line is healthy going into the divisional round. That includes Meinerz, who said he is “feeling pretty good” despite dealing with a mystery illness since October. Now, Meinerz and the offensive line are ready to be the backbone of the operation. “That’s what this program is based on,” Meinerz said. “In 2023 when Sean (Payton) first got here, one of the first moves he did was bring in Ben Powers and Mike McGlinchey and they’ve been an extreme reason and part as to why we’ve been having success here. They brought culture, they brought experience and I love being teammates with them and they make being a part of this offensive line a lot of fun.” NFL offensive line pass-blocking efficiency leaders Broncos (89.5) Pittsburgh Steelers (88.8) Chicago Bears (87.7) New York Giants (87.6) Houston Texans (86.6) – Stats per Pro Football Focus Meinerz makes Denver history Broncos offensive linemen to earn multiple first-team All-Pro honors G Quinn Meinerz (2024-25)* T Ryan Clady (2009, ‘12) C Tom Nalen (2000, ‘03) *Only player to do it in back-to-back years ...read more read less
