On Thursday afternoon, Alameda County Supervisor Nikki Fortunato Bas, the county District Attorney, the Sherriff and others will discuss two proposals that, in their view, will offer citizens some protection from ICE agents. There are two parts to it. One: the supervisor wants to establish rul es for county employees on how to respond if ICE shows up on county property and how to maintain safe access for the public in places like courts, hospitals and other healthcare facilities. Two: establish ICE-free zones on land owned and/or operated by Alameda County, with signage telling ICE to stay out and installation of physical barriers, if necessary.
