ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- An Albemarle County babysitter accused of sexually assaulting a child in his care may have more victims, police say. On Friday, Dec. 5, 2025, the Albemarle County Police Department arrested 24-year-old Maxwell H. Mandell of the Crozet area after receiving reports tha t a child had been sexually assaulted while in the care of a babysitter. Mandell currently faces two charges -- felony aggravated sexual battery and felony indecent liberties with a child. However, more than a month after his initial arrest, police have announced that this could change.
