The Mobridge City Council held its first meeting of 2026 on Wednesday, January 14th. Under New Business for the Water/Wastewater Department, the council approved: a pay request to Preload, LLC, in the amount of $20,655.00 for the water storage tank project located by the golf course north of town; a change order to Preload for an increase of $2,860.00 for electrical work and conduit wiring; plans for the wastewater treatment plant project; and authorizing Moore Engineering to advertise for bids on the wastewater treatment plant project, pending the funding agency’s approval. For the Fire Department the council approved the 2026 roster and officers. For the Police Department the council approved the hiring of Officer Keith Stetsor, and a wage increase for dispatcher Cindy Rische. Also at the meeting Wednesday night, a public hearing was held and approval was given to a liquor license transfer from Bruce Rinehart to Circle K.  Another public hearing was held and approval given for temporary liquor licenses to Mobridge Rodeo for their Gala in February and for a wedding in April.  Both will be held at the Scherr-Howe Event Center.  A public hearing was held and approval given to River Rest Lodge for a short term rental license.  River Rest Lodge is located at 813 3rd Avenue East in Mobridge. Council also approved: a cemetery deed; a salary resolution; designation of the Mobridge Tribune as the official newspaper for 2026; electronic or early payments for 2026; and designation of Dacotah Bank, First Interstate Bank, Dakota Community Bank, and South Dakota Public Funds Investment Trust as official depositories for 2026.
