AllCIF Southern Section Football: Five Inland players earn Player of the Year honors

The CIF Southern Section last week released its honors for the 2025 football season.
Five Inland athletes were among those who were selected as players of the year in their respective playoff divisions.
Hillcrest senior quarterback Matthew Ramos was chosen the Offensive Player of the Year in Divisio
n 10 after helping the Trojans win the first section championship in program history. Ramos passed for 1,873 yards and 26 touchdowns and added 1,028 yards and 13 touchdowns on the ground. Ramos accounted for six touchdowns in Hillcrest’s 63-34 win over Tahquitz in the title game.
Hillcrest junior safety Nicholas Bernal was selected as the Division 10 Defensive Player of the Year. Bernal lead the defense with 132 tackles and forced four fumbles. He returned three punts and two kickoffs for touchdowns and blocked four field goal tries.

Valley View senior quarterback Jesse Vega was chosen the Offensive Player of the Year in Division 11 after helping the Eagles win their first section championship since 2016. Vega passed for 1,729 yards and 20 touchdowns and added another 1,314 yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground. Vega rushed for 205 yards in Valley View’s 20-18 victory over Baldwin Park in the title game.
Valley View sophomore linebacker Bronson Pulu was selected the Division 11 Defensive Player of the Year. Pulu led the defense with 90 tackles.
Cornerstone Christian junior quarterback Dylan Kelly was chosen the Offensive Player of the Year for 8-Person, Division 1 after leading the Crusaders to the section finals for the first time in program history. Kelly passed for 1,190 yards and 25 touchdowns and added 1,260 yards and 19 touchdowns on the ground. He also led the defense with 110 tackles and seven interceptions.
An additional 174 players representing Inland schools were selected to the first team in the respective playoff divisions.
Hillcrest’s Travis Carter and Valley View’s Eric Martinez also were recognized for guiding their teams to section championhips.
