LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– In Lexington County Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 13, 2026, council members voted in favor of an ordinance that will impact development in the county. The measure passed a first reading before members went into executive session. The proposal allows developers to clear 75 acres at a time, current law limits that to 20 acres. Those opposed to the change say it does not take into account the potential environmental impact. President of the Lake Murray Association, Jim Rund says the action is reckless, thoughtless, and irresponsible, directly contradicting the county’s own vision and values. The next council meeting will be on Jan. 27, 2026. Categories: Lexington, Local News Tags: Lexington County, Lexington County Council ...read more read less
